Privacy & Cookie Policy
Last updated 25 July 2026
HomeGrants.ie is an independent home-grants information and contractor-matching service for Irish homeowners. We are not SEAI or a government body. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we pass it to when you request quotes, and your rights.
Who we are (data controller)
HomeGrants.ie is an independent home-grants service based in Ireland, and is the controller for personal data collected through this site. You can contact us about privacy, consent, withdrawals or data rights at info@homegrants.ie.
What we collect
- Property & answers: your Eircode (or county), the approximate latitude/longitude derived from it, your house type, build-year band, welfare/qualification answer and any upgrades you tell us are already done.
- Quote request: if you ask for quotes — your name, phone number, email address, the upgrades you want priced, when you want the work done, whether you own the home, whether you are in a position to fund your share, whether you want a site survey, and your preferred time to be called.
- Technical: your IP address, device and browser information, page and referrer URLs, a random session identifier, and the steps you take through the site — used for security, fraud and abuse prevention, and measuring how the site performs.
Using the free grant check does not require any contact details. We only ask for those if you decide to request quotes.
How we use it, and our legal basis
- To show you your grant estimate — working out which schemes may apply to a home like yours and what the work would leave you paying. Legal basis: your consent / steps taken at your request.
- To pass your request to contractors so they can contact you about the upgrades you asked about. Legal basis: your consent, given by ticking the box on the request form. You can withdraw it at any time.
- To run and protect the site — security, fraud and abuse prevention, record-keeping, handling queries and complaints, and invoicing contractors. Legal basis: our legitimate interests.
- Optional advertising & analytics cookies (e.g. the Meta Pixel) — only with your consent, which you give via the cookie banner and can withdraw at any time.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. Contractors pay us for the introduction, but that is a fee for putting you in touch — your details are never offered on an open market, listed, or passed to anyone who is not a match for your request.
Contractors (independent controllers)
- If you request quotes, we pass your name, phone number, email address, Eircode, county and the details of the work to an SEAI-registered contractor who appears on the relevant public SEAI register for that work and covers your county. Nobody else receives them.
- Those contractors are separate data controllers. Once your details reach them, their own privacy policy governs what they do with them, and you can exercise your rights directly against them.
- We tell them what you told us about timing, ownership and readiness for a survey, so they can prepare for the call.
- We can stop passing your details on at any time, but we cannot recall a request already sent. If you want a contractor to erase your details, ask them directly — we will give you their contact details if you need them.
Service providers (processors)
- Microsoft — to send email (your confirmation, and the contractor dispatch).
- Google Maps — to turn your Eircode into an approximate location and show your area.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — to run the website and store records.
- Meta — to measure ad performance. Where you have declined advertising cookies, we send Meta a limited set of hashed identifiers server-side for measurement; you can object to this at any time by emailing us.
How long we keep it
We keep quote requests for as long as needed to make the introduction, invoice the contractor, and handle any query or dispute — and to meet tax and accounting obligations, normally six years for the billing record. Where we no longer need your contact details we remove them. You can ask us to erase your data at any point (see your rights below).
International transfers
Some providers (e.g. email, mapping and advertising measurement) may process data outside the EEA. Where that happens we rely on lawful transfer mechanisms such as adequacy decisions or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Cookies
We use two kinds of cookies/local storage:
- Essential — needed for the site to work (e.g. remembering your cookie choice, your session, and your place in the form if the page reloads). These are always on.
- Advertising/analytics (Meta Pixel) — these only load after you choose “Accept all” in the cookie banner. Choose “Essential only” and they are never loaded. You can change your mind by clearing your browser storage for this site, which brings the banner back.
Your rights
You can ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your data, and you can object to processing or withdraw consent at any time by emailing info@homegrants.ie. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out, and does not undo an introduction already made. You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
HomeGrants.ie is an independent service and is not affiliated with SEAI or any government body. Always confirm current grant rules on SEAI.ie.
